Even after the two days after the Politico story came out, there was a poll that had Graham down to Susan Collins, but had Janet Mills running five points behind Graham Plattner, even after the story, the day he suspended his campaign.
We have a Republican majority in the House.
We have a Republican majority in the Senate.
We have a Republican in the White House.
And we have no functional path to a clear governing Democratic majority.
And I think there were mistakes made here and they need to not be made again.
But to go entirely in the other direction and decide, OK, well, we're going to totally write off trying a different approach.
We're going to totally write off bringing outsiders in to run for office at a moment in which the party establishment, any kind of establishment institutions of power are deeply unpopular, does not feel like a good faith effort to me to get to the place we need to get to.
And if we're all serious about a powerful governing majority, then that is going to require a different approach.
It's going to have to tap into the level of anger and angst that people are feeling and also this deep, deep desire for hope that I think this campaign tapped into.
Inherent and part of the problem is that the people who are insiders right now in positions of power are incredibly narrow definition.
It's an incredibly small group of people who have power and influence and resources in our politics, in our country right now.
