But it's still like...

tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars probably tens of billions of dollars and it was like eight years yeah but that was like a competitive advantage because they could do it in eight years and everyone else took 10 or something like that when you think about that choke point you think a lot of these pure play guys are almost like they're the equivalent of mining explorers yeah they create or they discover a candidate and then at some point

They either need to get a heap of cash in or they need to partner with one of the big players or sell to one of the big players to go through that choke point.

So maybe we start with the big players and then we talk about some of the smaller exploratory names.

That is the general philosophy, although you'd maybe say that Eli Lilly is becoming more and more a one-way bet on GLP-1s.

Yeah, they would suffer a pretty significant fall.

Yeah.

So let's move to some of the smaller biotechs that are working on specific issues.

We're only going to talk about listed names here.

Vertex is one that gets a fair bit of attention.

They have been working on cystic fibrosis.

They're also doing some stuff in kidney disease.

Regeneron is another one.

Eye disease and immunology is kind of their specialty.

Moderna and BioNTech are names that became quite, I was about to say quite popular during COVID.

I'll probably say quite well known during COVID.

But they are working on mRNA vaccines.

The COVID vaccine was a bit of a detour based on circumstances towards some of the big opportunities longer term, you know, personalized cancer vaccines and the like.

If you're thinking about investing in individual companies, the risk from a, you know, Unity biotechnology to a Pfizer is, they might both be in this industry, but they are chalk and cheese.

And so I think it's important to think about pure play, one shot, we get it right and we go to the moon.
