So the Prime Minister had some good news today.
In fact, he's had quite a lot of good news recently on the policy front, which we might talk about.
But this relates to immigration.
Figures came out this morning from the Office for National Statistics, which said that net migration to the UK, so the difference between the number of people coming in versus coming
leaving every year fell to 171,000 in 2025.
That is the lowest level actually since 2012, if you exclude COVID, if you include COVID, then since 2021.
The figure reached a peak of 944,000 at its peak, now down to fewer than 171,000.
And there's also good news, and that's the regular migration, the number of people arriving legally,
Also good news on so-called illegal migration, people coming in small boats and via other means.
The actual number of people claiming asylum in the UK is down 12% on the year, and the number of asylum seekers in hotels was down by a third compared to the peak.
So on almost every level, immigration coming down.
The Prime Minister was asked about it this morning.
Yeah, it's down by 50% pretty much on the year, which obviously Labour can take credit for.
If you look as well, when you drill down into the figures further still, about 813,000 long-term migrants arrived in the UK last year.
And of the 627,000 non-EU arrivals, roughly half of those came to study.
So again, if you actually drill down into the figures, most people, although we include them in the migration figures, most people often do look at students not really as migrants in the typical sense.
So again, you can see that, you know, when you actually drill down into the figures, the numbers of people actually coming to work and take up jobs...
