If we cannot achieve the policy goals that we are going to the doors with, if we are saying that we want to deliver on this, people are sick of hearing the broken promises around affordable childcare, around a healthcare system they can rely on, around affordable housing.

And we don't want to be another party that promises the sun, moon and stars and doesn't deliver.

Fine Gael haven't shown to me that they can deliver on these things.

Do you not need to compromise?

And we had a very thorough manifesto that laid out if we had...

And were you unwilling to compromise?

Yeah, because we had five red lines of outside of that, just that manifesto and everything that was in it.

We had five things that we were sure that if we went into government, those were the things we were going to come out of it having achieved.

And we were willing to talk to anyone who was willing to talk seriously about it.

Well, I suppose.

Well, I suppose it comes down to, do you want affordable childcare?

That was one of ours.

Do you want to see affordable homes built?

Do you want slants of care genuinely implemented?

Because while there are bits and pieces, slants of care is meant to be a big plan that introduces a single-tier health system.

That is not what we are seeing implemented, and it's not what we've seen implemented.

But also childcare under this government is every time we raise, when are we going to see this 200 euro a month per child that was promised during the election?

We're told it'll happen eventually, but there's no clear plan or path to it yet.

We're almost two years in.

So it does come to a point of credibility or are we serious about doing this when more and more childcare providers, and this was also in one of the papers, are pulling out of the core funding scheme because they can't make things work on it.
