We get out and as far away from thinking about the issue as we can.

And then last but not least, otherism, the growing sense that the world exists as a set of competing factions, that there's us versus them, that when we think about resources, we do so through a zero-sum mentality, by which any more for any one group of people, by definition, means less for other groups of people.

And I realize that's kind of a depressing place, Kimberly.

But I guess the hopeful piece is that there are also other mindsets that we see in our research.

And we know that mindsets are dynamic.

They don't change in the moment.

They don't change in the six-month or a year-long period.

But they do change and shift over time.

And they do so dynamically.

So that's the kind of dark cloud that hangs over my head as a researcher, but also kind of a little ray of hope that I think shines.
