He rushed at the shape with his axe raised, but when he swung,

It chuckled, the kind of sound you might hear creaking deep within the pipes of your kitchen sink.
And in one slow motion, the thing reached through mister Henderson's arms, rimming its fingers into his flesh like putty.
Mr Henderson shrieked and dropped the axe before the shape reached its other gangly hand through his head.
The abnormally long fingers poked out from his remaining tufts of grey hair, then squeezed.
Mr Henderson blubbered.
Yellow foam pulling in the corners of his mouth?
And the shape dropped into the ground, unconscious.
During this I wasted no time trying to get away, but my zip tight hands and feet made it nearly impossible.
I managed to crawl into one of the wooden structures around the tree.
Then curled into a ball.
Trying and failing to steady my breathing.
I peered through the thin gap in the sticks, praying that what I had seen wasn't real.
