Welcome back everybody to Infamous, a production of Sony Music Entertainment and Campsite Media.
Do you remember the Drake and Kendrick beef from a couple years back?
There was this window in spring 2024 when it felt like every day Kendrick Lamar was dropping a new song insulting Drake.
And you didn't need to be super into hip-hop to know about it.
I mean this was getting covered on CNN.
There were just all these songs, Euphoria, Meet the Grams, Not Like Us, each one more savage than the Lost.
Kendrick was coming for Drake's reputation, insulting his ability to be a father, even accusing him of being a pedophile, and Kendrick was winning.
Sure, Drake fired a few early shots of his own, but pretty soon he was very silent.
And Kendrick would soon get a number one record out of his diss track, Not Like Us, and eventually the halftime show at the Super Bowl.
But just imagine if in the midst of that
Someone had shot Kendrick.
Just gunned him down in the middle of Los Angeles.
And then someone killed Drake.
That would be the modern equivalent of what happened thirty years ago in Las Vegas, when rapper Tupac Shakur was shot dead in the middle of a beef with rapper Notorious B.I.
G.
And then Biggie
Davis, also known as Keepy D, a former drug dealer and gang member from LA.
He was a prime suspect in the shooting back in the day, but he was never charged with the crime.
Until that is, he started talking about it himself.
His 2019 self-published book, Compton Street Legend, detailed his involvement in Tupac's shooting.
