So Tupac and Biggie start out as friends, but all that changes one night in November nineteen ninety four, with an incident in New York at a recording studio called Quad Studios.
Here's what happens.
Tupac arrives to record a feature for another artist.
Biggie is also at the studio, along with Diddy.
When Tupac gets inside the lobby, he's attacked.
Three men shoot him five times.
Tupac is seriously injured.
He gets hit in the leg, groin, and hand, and one of the bullets grazes his skull.
Tupac thinks it's a setup, and he publicly blames Biggie and Diddy for the attack.
Biggie and Diddy deny any involvement, but it doesn't matter.
Suddenly what had been a rivalry between East Coast and West Coast hip hop turns into a bloody battle.
It's East Coast, Biggie and Diddy and Bad Boy Records versus West Coast, Tupac and Shook Knight and Death Row Records, with the Mob Pyru Bloods and Crips involved too.
And it only escalates from there, with various retaliations back and forth, all the way to Tupac's fatal shooting in Las Vegas in nineteen ninety-six.
