Like I kind of thought they would realize how far we've come

since 1994 when we didn't have a league and we didn't have any broadcasters that knew anything about the game and that, you know, it had to be a foreigner to teach us the game at that time.

Now we have an established league with 30 teams.

We have American broadcasters who grew up watching the sport, loving the sport, all these things, but the rest of the world doesn't believe that, you know, they still, I mean, I'm watching on social media and, and it's, they're waiting to pick apart anything that a broadcaster says and say, Oh, see, they don't know.

And,

I don't know how much it matters that we convince the rest of the world that we can do this as well.

But I think it matters on some level.

And if you fail to get out of the group on your home soil in this context, it's going to confirm that bias to everyone.

See, the Americans, we should have never put the World Cup in America in the first place.

They don't get it.

It doesn't matter to them.

They're no good at it.

And I think so.

Yeah, all those things would be really bad.

So let's not do that.

Let's have them win.

I think the country gets swept up in it, and I think it's the reverse of all the things we just said.

I mean, I think...

that a lot of the Americans I know who love the game are like me.

They fell in love with the game because of a World Cup somewhere along the line.
