know individuals with just an etf through to like hardcore portfolios with hundreds of trades um we do crypto tax as well so the the volume of trades crypto traders bring into the platform is just astronomical i can imagine um we talked about that last year right about how complicated the crypto taxes oh yeah we're staking oh my gosh they don't even know after the people that do crypto don't even know

No, we had a file tried to get imported recently with like 100,000 transactions from last financial year.

So it's like that file didn't work because it was like huge compared to most stock files that we've seen.

How do you do 100,000 trades in a year?

Well, it's like all the staking rewards as well.

So they're usually every day for particular coins.

So there's like 365 there.

But the thing with crypto is a lot of the crypto exchanges or crypto brokers that you use are all tech first.

So they come with integration points.

So people can now hook up their AI bots or their trading bots that can execute trades on their behalf.

So they're just buying those little ups and downs of the crypto prices all the time.

So it's, you know, tens or hundreds of trades a day over a year adds up pretty quick.

Oh, exactly.

And we've always had that issue with stocks as well, with day traders too.

All of that active trading is CGT events, which don't qualify for the 50% CGT discount.

But that might actually change very shortly and change the dynamic between long-term and short-term investing.

yeah well the good thing is they're probably not making money anyway so yeah they probably don't have to worry too much yeah i think that we did a youtube breakdown on it a few months back and at a certain portfolio size day traders actually did quite well but it was once it was i think it was from memory over 800 000 invested yeah right so it's people trading the big quantities
