Anything like a Volkswagen ID.4 or a Hyundai Ioniq 5 or a Kia EV6 or, I'm trying to think now, or, I mean, a secondhand Tesla, if you can stomach owning a Tesla these days.
You can get a huge amount of car for not an awful lot of money if you're going out and buying a used EV.
The only thing you need to remember is make sure it comes with a battery health check so that you know that the battery that's in the car is working properly and still delivering the amount of mileage per charge that it should be.
You won't.
There was a lot of fear put into the system about potential battery failures when EVs first started to come through in 2010, 2011, 2012.
And some of that was justified.
The technology at the time was very, very new.
The batteries were pretty basic.
Oh, there's a huge... Yeah, I mean, don't go on Facebook, whatever you do, because it's just the disinformation that's out there is horrendous.
What we do know is that, yes, obviously a battery can fail because it's an electromechanical device.
It can break.
That's what happens with these things.
If it can break in your phone, if it can break in your laptop, it can break in your car.
But...
Every new EV comes with an eight-year warranty for its battery, up to 160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
That's a lot of mileage.
And eight years is a long time.
Now, I know that the average age of a car on Irish roads is approaching 10 years old, but even so, there has been a huge amount of research devoted to this.
We saw a report just recently from the ADAC in Germany, which is their equivalent of the AA,
