So far, nothing's being signaled particularly heavily.
And I think and I hope the government have learned that when you start tinkering with the incentives that are there, sales drop.
Because the last time there was a major change to incentives, we saw EV sales plummet by nearly 30% at one point.
Now, they have recovered a lot since then, and that is, I think, because people are cottoning on to the thing of, A, the cars are really nice, and B, you can make a huge amount of savings, quite apart from the environmental imperative, which is obviously an overriding thing.
So I think we're probably not going to see too much movement in this budget, but obviously there will be changes in future budgets.
The government is eventually going to have to find ways to recoup the money that it's not getting in terms of fuel duty as more and more EVs hit the road.
That's a really tricky one.
Motor tax as well will have to shift.
Yeah, and I think that's a tricky balance for the government and the exchequer to hit because obviously taxation has to be, in theory at any rate, fair and proportionate.
And unfortunately, what we've seen in the last, well, really since 1922, is that the government treats the motorists as the cash cow.
And anytime they need a bit of extra cash, well, we'll just squeeze them a bit.
So I think you will see a bit of that.
But, you know, at the moment, definitely there are enormous savings to be made.
Plus there is that overriding environmental imperative that we do need to start bringing our CO2 down as much as we can.
Electric cars do do that.
Don't believe the people who say they don't.
They actually do.
It's been scientifically tested.
so yeah do be considering ev when you're considering your next car and used evs used evs are actually great because they're so cheap because the secondhand market still doesn't like evs very much we saw dramatic fall off in used ev prices about two years ago and they're only starting to recover now but the good thing from a buying perspective is that right now there is a lot of used evs two three years old that are rock bottom prices and they're a lot of car for the money
