So it's already going to be a busy day tomorrow.

Now you're also going to load into that,

This new cohort of buyers who probably wouldn't have been calling in on July 1st because they're driving a 13 year old car and they're not thinking about buying a new car.

Suddenly they are because they're getting an extra five grand.

You're going to have them wanting to get their new car, wanting to find out, did the grant come through for me?

Am I getting my 5,000 euro off?

And you're going to have a slightly chaotic, no, not even slightly, I'll just say chaotic mixture of those people, people who are very, very happy because they've got their grant and they're getting their shiny new battery car and people who are very, very upset because they didn't get their grant and they're probably shouting at their dealer.

That's a very good question, and it's something I did ask Nigel over at Hutton & Mead, and it's something that I'll put out on this podcast to other dealers, which is it's very, very hard to put something like this in front of A, the consumer, and B, the dealer, and expect them to be sensible about it.

Consumers are going to go, five grand from the government?

I'd be mad not to.

And they're right.

Dealers will look at it and go, a bunch of extra people coming in, putting down deposits on new cars on the basis that they might get €5,000?

I'd be mad not to get their signatures.

You know, dealerships, they don't take a vow of chastity.

I think there's a little bit of that.

And I think that is almost certain on the basis of how much this, how successful this has already been.

Although there is going to, I mean, look, come tomorrow afternoon, there's going to be a hell of a lot of upset people and there's going to be a lot of PR issues for the government to engage with and deal with.

But I suspect what we'll also get by tomorrow afternoon is an announcement that says, don't worry, lads, if you didn't get it this time, it's coming again in December, January.

The problem is, preternaturally, the government, and you can, you know, you can, big G, small G, you can pick any party that's been in power in the last 25 years.

They don't really understand how the car industry works and they don't really care.
