You look at the last three months and he's hitting 330, 340, and he looks very much like the guy who won a batting championship in 2023.

He's set career highs in home runs and RBIs now with

with a solo home run to start the game yesterday.

So, I mean, he's an impressive player and they extended him in spring training and picked up an option to add another year on top of it.

So, you know, I think every year they'll have tough decisions.

I understand the comparison with the Patriots, but I think the difference is that the NFL is built where teams are supposed to be on a par, where Major League Baseball doesn't have that.

And because of that, I think the Rays are not normally going to be able to compete at the top part of the free agent market for...

the, the, let's say if they, a player, you know, that they send all the way to free agency, they can't fill that and backfill that with a player of the same quality.

So the reason they make the trades they do, or to try and hopefully gain players that provide that same quality.

So they constantly have a funnel of good players coming through the organization and what, you know, there's probably numerous players that they're going to have to make

decisions on to try and make sure they're as competitive as possible.

And what I still think is a really, really good division and arguably one of the best in the sport.

I mean, you could end up with, what, at least three teams.

It looks like you're going to have at least three of the five in the postseason this year.

And that's as many as any other division.

So from that regard, it's still a bear to work with, and you've got to be really, really good all the time.

I can't imagine they wouldn't exercise the option because they exercised a very similar option last year, and he's putting up better numbers.

And I think he's still, if not at the top, right near the top of most home runs by any second baseman in Major League Baseball.
