It contains asbestos, both in the tiles inside the building as well as within the siding on the outside of the building.

Improvements would be needed such as a new roof and new siding, new wiring and plumbing.

And if you've been in the building, you can appreciate sort of the upgrades that would need to happen there.

Here are a few exterior shots showing you the view from the street, from Ward Street looking onto the property, and then from the town hall garage looking to the west.

And on the inside here are a few photographs of the interior where you can see some of the furniture from the previous owner was left behind.

And you can get a general sense of the condition and improvements of the building.

And then there is a half bath that's the only plumbing inside the structure.

So as you can imagine, there's some significant ADA issues as well as all the other major systems would have to be upgraded within the building.

As I mentioned earlier, it is located within the old and historic district, so it would require a certificate of appropriateness for any changes, modifications, or demolition.

We have talked to the town preservation staff and the board of architecture review back when you did the initial purchase.

They did travel through the building, and their strong advocacy was for keeping the structure on its current foundation.

But unfortunately, keeping the structure there would preclude the town from being able to expand the building, expanding town hall into additional office space and improvements to the town council chambers.

There is the alternative option of a relocation of the building.

And this is something where you all could issue a request for proposals to see if there was interest in the community to relocate and pick up and find a new spot for this.

So some considerations when you're thinking about relocation of a structure like this.

First you have to think, is there an interested party out there?

Is it enough value?

Or somebody would want to make that investment to take this project on because it would not be insignificant.
