Good evening, Mayor and Council.
You had asked a few months back for us to have a discussion on the property that you all purchased back at 16 Ward Street.
And the discussion was to really center around, is there a potential there for relocation of the structure and the potential future use of the site?
So just to give you a little bit of history and orient those who may be unfamiliar with the site, here is the parcel just to the south of the town hall.

And you can see outlined in this yellow box signifies the lot that we're talking about here.
The large parcel has the home situated on it, and then there's a smaller separate lot that's about 15 feet in width.
And combined, you're looking at a lot, just over 2,000 square feet.
It's zone B1.
It is within the old and historic district, so it does fall under those requirements.
It's improved with a two-story structure.
It was built around 1920.
That structure is around 1,500 square feet.
It's made up of six rooms, not including the half bath.
So there's three rooms on the first floor and three rooms on the second floor.
Again, the town purchased this back in 2021 to allow for future expansion of the town hall itself.
The home was originally constructed back in 1920, and it was later converted into a private office space.
So when UL as a town purchased it, it was purchased as a law office space.
The building itself would require significant renovations to make it suitable for town office use.
We did have a study conducted by an independent third party, Volkert and Associates, and they did find that the building does contain lead paint.
