Thanks for your presentation, and I'll preface by saying I'm fully supportive of the performing arts and the work of the Performing Arts Commission.
I actually have a performing arts background, so I fully appreciate what goes into the performing arts.
That said, I share some of the concerns here.
The young woman who's doing the dance program, has she already been informed that the program is going on and she is the sole performer?
And she made her application with understanding that her award, so to speak, would be up to $500.

Well, yeah, I would have to concur that to take the entire $3,000 then and present it to one applicant simply because she's the only one is not appropriate expense of the money.
Just because the commission has the dollars doesn't necessarily mean they should all be directed in this.
I'm perfectly willing to have the program go on since you've already informed the performer that she has in effect placed and has probably done a considerable amount of work to
do what she wants to do on the 12th.
I assume you'll have some participation, even though it is on the 12th of June and it is the last day of school, which may have had something to do with the responses that you got or the lack thereof to your application.
