But are we initially just trying to make it more complicated than it needs to be?
Fair enough there.
I don't really have any more questions but a comment in that.
This is obviously going to be a fluid situation.
We're going to set up an ordinance of some kind or another.
And then over a period of time, we'll see if that needs to be adjusted.
I would argue that it shouldn't be any more complicated than it needs to be.
And it should be with the understanding that we are not trying to stifle growth or business or excitement or activity in the downtown area.
Anything but, which is why we've been working so hard to try to get this right.
I have a lot of friends who are musicians.
They agree to the person that it is both the venue and the musical group's responsibilities to set levels that are acceptable both to the people who are in close proximity, but also to residents who are outside the immediate area.
And that 12 on the amp is not necessarily better sound than six or five.
In fact, amping it up that high is often entirely unnecessary.
I remember speaking to one musician.
He said, well, if we don't raise the level of music, they can't hear it because they're all talking.
And that's the whole point, of course.
Yes, they are in your background.
So I'm not sure that's a reasonable argument.
We have a changing demographic in the town of Leesburg.
Even with that, we still get complaints from younger people who have kids who are trying to put them to bed at 8 in the evening and having trouble doing that.
