So if you take the long view, it would be maybe to Antonelli's benefit to have Verstappen next to him because he will be the finished article in four years, not tomorrow.

And that could maybe make him an even better driver.

Plus, there's so much respect there.

If I look at Verstappen, I think there are two drivers on this grid that he really, really, really rates alongside himself.

And that's Lewis and that's Kimi.

And that could be very interesting.

But...

And I don't think it would hurt Mercedes actually because of the way these two are both wired.

It's not someone – like the Lewis Rosberg thing was someone who felt he was the best and someone who thought he had to punch above his weight and give everything one year to try and make it, try to get that one shot.

and these there's at opposite ends of career paths as well Verstappen and Antonelli I think also because they've had the similar upbringing and a similar route into F1 I think they could be a massively good pairing but

It could also be that he stays at Red Bull or goes to McLaren.

So who knows at this point?

I just want to see it.

I definitely want to see that.

I think if we'd had this discussion last year and we did, it would be more the apprentice and the master.

But there's so much more room for Antonelli to grow.

He cannot be done at 19 as the finished article for Stappe wasn't.

He got into his prime in 23, 24 years old, and then he had to wait for a car to give him the opportunity.

There is room for improvement and there's no better way to improve than to measure yourself alongside probably the best driver on the grid or if not one of the best drivers of all time.

And it would definitely make sure Kimi never gets complacent in the next three years.
