And that's one of the things here.

It's amazing to see that so much damage has been done to nature in this part of the world through all sorts of hunting and trapping of species.

But now so much is being done to put that right.

So the Javan deer, which is found in Java and in Bali and a few of the other islands, because it's a large deer, about the size of our red deer, a large creature, it was hunted almost to extinction.

But there's been a real conservation program, some sort of sanctuaries and some even captive breeding happening in Java and in Bali today.

And it's coming back now again.

You see wild cattle here as well.

There's the Javan wild cow, which their domestic cattle here are descended from.

They have a different species of domestic cow here to the ones that we have in Europe.

It's called the Banting.

And you see them around.

You get a herd of...

of probably about 30 of them today in this national park in the very east of Java.

And another species that I saw that was in Bali, which was threatened with extinction.

In fact, it went extinct pretty much in the wild, but it's now back again.

It's a bird called the Bali Mino or the Bali Starling.

One of the rarest birds in the world and one that when I was a kid, I thought that I would never see.

I thought, there's no way this will survive.

This will be extinct before I'm old enough to get to Indonesia and see it.
