So that's a first kind of defective inference, but it still involves the same kind of knowledge producing connection between the premise judgments and the conclusion judgment, in the sense that if you had known the premises, you would have come to know the conclusion.

So that's how the account of good inferences works.

The account of fallacious inferences is slightly more complicated.

And so the view I take here is actually that

Fallacious inferences are a lot like mere associations.

So they're a lot more like cases where you just judge one thing and then judge another as a result.
