I think he's probably already decided everything, but he has got some big decisions to make.
It's the 4-4-2 diamond versus the 4-3-3.
And suggestions coming out recently that maybe he's going to ditch the diamond and go with 4-3-3.
If that's the case, you have to say the decision there is...
Is it Vardy, Rooney and Kane?
Or is it possibly someone like Sterling being played into the team in a 4-3-3 and Vardy as your impact substitute?
Well, I do believe it does.
I think if you're going to play those as a three up front, the split striker didn't work.
I think you'd have to say Kane must be through the middle and the other two playing off them.
Now, the Christmas tree of Terry Venables and Euro 96 kind of rings a bell here because if...
You had the scenario of Kane at the very top, Vardy and Rooney not on the flanks as such but tucked in a bit as the two and then behind them comes the three in midfield.
It could work that way.
I'd rather see England try and do that than repeat what happened against Portugal because Kane and Vardy were left too wide.
They weren't able to threaten Portugal's defence.
They were
keeping the full-backs busy and vice versa.
But that isn't really what England need in a situation like this.
So if he goes that way, using those three, great.
If he feels that the three might be better served with someone like a Sterling or even a Lallana for that matter, then he might go that way.
