Just as he asked this, the familiar ding of the PA system drew their attention before the terminal agent began to speak.
We would now like to welcome all first class as well as all Diamond and Platinum member passengers to board flight 881 to Lima, Peru.
Please have your boarding passes ready.
Again, we are now boarding all first class, Diamond and Platinum member passengers for flight 881 to Lima, Peru.
And that is us.
Tim said excitedly to his friends as the group picked up their carry-on luggage and made their way to the gate.
Tim had never flown first class before and was rather excited to finally give it a try.
He had, on the few times he'd flown commercially, always felt a slight pang of envy as he'd pass the cushy, broad seats with their soft lighting and unfathomable legroom on his way to economy class.
This time, however, he felt like a VIP, sliding into cloud-like armchairs that awaited him.
The bourbon had begun to make him sleepy, and between the late-night departure and sheer comfort of his seat, he barely made it until they were in the air before falling into a deep and dreamless sleep.
They had some ten hours in the air yet to go, through which Tim and all of his friends, save for Dan, who would be in and out of consciousness throughout the trip, would sleep like babies.
For Tim, no sooner had he closed his weary eyes at home than did he awake, refreshed and alive just prior to landing.
It was late morning when the flight touched down at Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima.
The sun shone brightly down on the tarmac as the plane jostled slightly upon making contact with the ground.
Soon they had taxied to the gate, and during the final peak of first class line, Tim was the first to step off the plane.
Joining with his friends, the group made their way down the concourse and then on through customs.
As they passed through, their passports stamped.
It was a still slightly sleepy Dan who chuckled when declaring the purpose of their visit as pleasure.
This elicited a momentary, spurious look from the customs agent, who raised an unimpressed eyebrow at the young man before stamping his documents and moving him along.
Soon they had picked up their luggage, hailed a cab in the form of a passenger van, and set off to the address of their Airbnb.
