Tim began to reply, but stopped as the shaman appeared before him, handing him a small wooden bowl about the size of a coffee cup.
Within it sat an oily and honestly foul-smelling liquid.
Swirling it around gently in his cup, Tim noted as its thick, viscous consistency clung to the sides like wine made from used motor oil.
After taking his own cup, the stranger beside Tim leaned in closer, speaking in a hushed tone.
