After a storm is probably the optimum time to do an inspection on your own home because that's when something on the outside could be damaged.
A gutter could blow off, shingles could blow off, a downspout could come down.
And if it weathers a storm, that's probably a good sign.
So look for plumbing leaks, roof leaks.

Perhaps your downspout isn't draining far enough away from the foundation or the grate is sloped towards the foundation and it's bringing water into the basement.
If you see water or signs of water, that would be something you should address quickly because not only is the water a problem and it could cause a bigger problem, but it also is one of the ingredients you need to have mold.
They're looking for indications of problems and problems that could be growing and become worse.
But they're also looking for things that you literally can't see.
They have moisture meters.
They have infrared cameras that look at things that the human eye can't see.
An infrared camera can find a wire that's overloaded behind a wall because it generates heat.
And the infrared camera can pick that up.
It can detect moisture in the ceiling.
It could even detect termites.
Termites generate warmth.
Everything from the roof, plumbing, heating systems, the foundation, the interior, the exterior.
And every home is different, so it's much like someone coming to the doctor for the first time.
The doctor has to look at everything and try to see if there's anything that might be causing a problem.
