So at Iran's insistence, the memorandum of understanding includes a phrase saying that if there's going to be a ceasefire in the Gulf, there has to be a full ceasefire in Lebanon.
Israel will not accept that.
They will not accept that because they want to have a free hand in Lebanon.
They say it's very important for their security.
And that is why there is friction right now between the Netanyahu government and the Trump White House.
So with so many moving parts, this initial 60 days of negotiations, which are due to start in Switzerland on Friday, I believe, might not even last the distance.
It might not.
But I think that both the Americans and the Iranians have got some quite good reasons to try to keep this thing going.
The Americans, because Trump wants out of the war.
And for some time, people who have been opposed to the war have been saying that there is no military solution.
There has to be diplomacy.
And you can argue that maybe this is one way of doing it, that these kinds of concessions to Iran that are in the Memorandum of Understanding were discussed in the past.
And ironically, terrible irony, deadly irony.
