I think that that explains part of it, but not all of it.
The study from the journal The Archives of Sexual Behavior that gets into the motivation of men who have been voluntarily castrated, as well as the ones who are just interested in it.
Seventeen percent of the participants were asked about their actual castration, seventy-eight percent were asked about their desire to be castrated.
The problem with the study is that it has a very low and the seventeen percent that we mentioned, it's twenty three guys.

It wasn't clear to me when I read the the abstract and the summary, but my guess is the remaining five percent are some kind of control group of guys that are just completely uninterested in castration.

The prevailing reason for wanting it
was what's called UniCom, which is total freedom from all sexual urges.

About a third of them, it was a sexual fetish.
This is kind of maybe weirdly the one that makes the most sense to me, not because I have a castration fetish to be clear, but I think that given that most of the study participants hadn't actually done it, that it checks out that it could it's just a weird fantasy they have and maybe it's nothing more.

But about as many guys just are like your kind of like your friend.
They just thought they'd look better without balls, which the study interpreted to mean that they also wanted their scrotum removed.
The abstract says that the scientists were surprised by the results of the study because they had expected
Transexualism and libido control to be the main drivers.
