An alpha who hoards all the food is not an asset.
He is a liability.
And if he then rubs people's noses in the fact that he's got all the food to show dominance, he is not going to survive for very long because people will kill him.
We actually have a really good example of this from recent human history about just how bad incompetently asserting dominance can be.
During the Vietnam War, there was a practice called fragging.
I think I remember this from the
Oh, it's very real.
In fact, as many as a thousand American military commanders were targeted for fragging by their own soldiers between 1969 and 1972 alone.
There were at least 86 deaths, over 700 injuries.
The number is actually probably a lot higher because you didn't have to chuck a grenade under his
bunk.
You could just be like, oh lieutenant, I need you to go look over there.
And over there is like where Viet Cong snipers have been clapping people.
Or go over there and we shoot you from far away and blame it on the Viet Cong.
You know, like it's not difficult to kill somebody on your own side in a time of war if you want to get rid of them.
And grunts would do this to their their commanding officers.
