It's great to be here.
Yeah, that's right.
They fell off slowly and then all at once, really, I would describe it.
So it was my final game of the seasons playing over there and I just developed this massive headache while playing and I couldn't work out why.
Every time I ran, it just got worse and worse.
So I flew back to New Zealand and I ended up in hospital back in Christchurch and they tried to work out what was going on.
They couldn't do it to start with and then they ended up operating and they found I'd
three big cancerous tumors in my abdomen.
So they did a five hour operation, took them out.
It's quite gnarly.
They had to take out a lot of other stuff as well.
Took me about three months to recover and start eating again properly.
And then I decided I'll go back to Japan, signed another contract.
I just basically tried to ignore it and pretend it didn't happen.
But a year later, the cancer spread to my liver.
And they did a sort of temporary operation called radioablation.
And they said, this will work in the short term.
It's not a cure.
Just go live your life.
