I am against overdevelopment with poor planning.
So it needs to be looked at from a holistic point of view rather than piecemeal, coming in and doing this one development.
It needs to look at the impact on the landscape.
the local community, look at the infrastructure and the demands on that.
Can the local community and the schools, the creches, the doctors, can they all cope with another 1,000 houses and possibly 4,000 extra people if you're looking at a standard family unit, that that's going to put on to that local community which is already under pressure.
So it's, yes, we have a beautiful heritage site with incredible potential to bring tourism to the area and not just to Dundalk, but to Carlingford and beyond.
It could become a gateway to our area.
You come in, it's actually just off the motorway.
So if you're coming from Dublin to Belfast, if you come off Junction 17, you're straight into New Holland's Castle.
We have an interpretive centre there.
You can see the Coulee Mountains.
It would get people to go to the Coulee Mountains.
it could be a fantastic opportunity.
But aside from that, there is a lot more planning that needs to be looked at.
