The circumstances surrounding this situation have raised several concerns and it is imperative that they are addressed properly to maintain the integrity and transparency of policing and investigations and your mission of keeping people safe.
Specifically, the issues include 1.
The failure to bring any person to justice.
2.
The lack of formal updates from the Gardaí.
3.
The duality of the investigations into the murder of Anthony and Martin Highland.
Given the seriousness of my concerns, I believe an independent investigative review led by your serious crime review team is necessary to ensure an unbiased and thorough evaluation.
It is not my intention to dictate the objectives of the review, but it should include but not be limited to determining the facts and root cause of what occurred.
Assess any potential violations of policy, procedures and regulations compliant to Article 2 ECHR.
and recommend any corrective actions to prevent a recurrence of similar issues and ultimately to identify and bring to justice the perpetrator of this crime.
I have wondered every day if my son is not considered important enough for the Gardaí to care about.
Was his death not high profile enough to consider or is it that he was working in a house in Finglas where a criminal slept upstairs and my son was murdered because of that?
