Well, we absolutely are hardening up in that we are uh continuing uh a path that gets us with debt coming down, that gets the surplus back in and that continues with tight spending allowances.
So uh we can do all of that with no new taxes, we can do all of that uh by being very careful elsewhere.
And that's the pattern we're gonna have to continue uh after the election.
No, you're not going to have to do that.
When you see the pre-election fiscal update, you'll see that I've been very careful.
Obviously, that update will have a range of different decisions uh presented in it, but you can bet your bottom dollar.
As we're making decisions as a cabinet, I have my eye on the main prize, which is we were elected to get the books back in order.
That is my mission.

on track because that track that we're on is one that the world is watching.
You know, we have credit rating agencies who lend us money and you're preaching to the converted

And I want to relieve your anxiety and be clear with you that when we have a discussion after the pre election fiscal update, you'll see that I've been very careful, I've achieved the right balance, and we are on track.
Well well there is, um, but the simple reality is no one likes ta paying more tax and so that's why governments do need to keep their spending disciplined and under control so that they're not constantly having to reach into people's back pockets uh and bank accounts.
