I am so excited to talk to you about what you're doing in the world of AI and identifying patients who are septic. matched

So currently in hospitals, right now, a lot of us use SIRS as a criteria to identify matched

So a heart rate greater than ninety, respiratory rate greater than twenty, a white count that's high or low and a temperature that's high or low. matched

What's the problem with those with service criteria? matched

Like why why do we need to think of different ways? matched

Yeah, so they're too sensitive but not specific to sepsis. matched

Yeah, and I think the patient population we classically saw that would that the SIRS would alarm is like pancreatitis is a classic example, right? matched

Or a patient who's having pain. matched

Yeah, you know, and a lot of work that's been done out of the University of Chicago has shown that really the respiratory rate is probably one of the most matched

predictive criteria of deterioration. matched

But yet I'll be honest, I've worked bedside for 30 years and we don't measure the respiratory rate. matched

We make it up a lot of times, you know? matched

And so and I mean it's kind of we've got memes made up about us. matched

So we own it, right? matched

You know, but um but truly I always try to instill in people respiratory rate is one of those things you gotta pay attention to. matched
