Where do you usually start with clients?
No, I agree with you.
It's actually part of our onboarding process where I explain to a client that they're going to do the prep work for what we call our first session, the empower session.
And so you're going to do your prep work.
It's going to feel like a lot.
This might be the first time you're seeing these numbers.
And we like to really set the mindset around it too, that it's not about...
blaming.
It's not about there being a right or wrong because there is no right or wrong when it comes to where your money's going.
All it is is data, right?
It's very different than thinking about it as something you should feel ashamed about, but rather this is something that we're just taking a look at.
It's a starting place.
It's not our ending place.
So the mindset going into it.
And then the second part
is we tell them that it's very normal right before the session to actually get this like dread or that wave of panic.
Because when we feel exposed, it's very, very normal to feel like I don't want to show that to someone else, let alone myself.
And I think that that's really the biggest reason why people feel nervous about a spending audit is because they're nervous about seeing it for themselves.
And one of the ways that I like to reframe that is when we are stuck financially or when we're not getting the results we want financially...
It can either just be this big dark cloud, which has no answers, which for some I think is actually comforting.
