I went to a bar alone in Delhi and someone asked if I'd been stood up.

So now I'm testing places I can actually sit in alone.

Today I'm at Plus 9-1 for a solo dinner.

I've always gone out by myself to eat, sometimes to have a beer.

That's always been quite normal in my experience.

You know, growing up in London, I never sort of saw that as a weird thing to do.

But once when I did that in Delhi, someone approached me and said that they assumed that I'd been stood up.

So that really surprised me.

And it sparked a conversation about the culture around solo dining in Delhi.

And I was really shocked to hear that it's not really something people do.

So my first question was just why?

The inspiration for my opening line came to me.

And yeah, a couple of days later, I started the Instagram.

I just thought that it would be a good way of learning a little bit more about Delhi.

I didn't expect for it to get as much traction as it did.

I'm still trying to figure that out myself.

I have a few theories.

I think if it was a man doing this, a lot of people wouldn't think twice about it at all.

But because I'm a woman and I'm completely unapologetic about it and I don't really explain anything about that, it can come across to quite a lot of people as empowering or...

somewhat inspirational.
