When the Missouri Supreme Court hears the appeal in that case next week, what would happen if that court ends up overturning the lower court's decision?

I think the big question in my mind is we just had an August primary where the new map was in effect.

So if the Supreme Court undoes the lower court's decision and Missourians end up voting on the map.

Would that undo the primary?

How would that affect those results?

Okay, so that could get pretty complicated.

Um let's turn to the respect Missouri voters case.

What would happen if the Missouri Supreme Court overturns that decision?

So, Missouri voters have already decided that they don't want to make it harder for citizens to pass constitutional amendments and things like that.

Uh, earlier this month, they voted down by overwhelming margins a measure that would have revised the threshold for amendments to pass.

So, I'm wondering how likely is it that there would be public support for the Respect Missouri voters measure if the court ends up overturning that decision?

I want to remind our listeners that both of these measures that the court just rejected got hundreds of thousands of petition signatures from people who wanted to see these issues on the ballot.

At this point, is Hoskins just fighting the will of Missourians?

So one thing that I've noticed as a theme in Missouri politics over the past few years is that Missouri Republican lawmakers have seemed really invested in making it harder for citizens to get things on the ballot.

Can we talk about why that might be?

You're right that Missourians have consistently voted for these Democratic priorities, but Missouri is still very much a red state.

State elections tend to go towards the Republicans.
