Twelve years ago I had a low PSA, but a digital rectal examination revealed some abnormal roughness.

A biopsy detected a low to medium risk.

risk of cancer, but within 12 months the cancer had escaped the prostate capsule with the PSA still low.

Surgery has me in remission and my PSA is now undetectable.

That's great news.

But it just shows how crude a test PSA can be.

You can have cancer with a low PSA.

And as Martin wrote earlier, he had a high PSA but didn't have cancer.

So you've got to do further things.

And that's the importance of the MRI scan, is that the MRI scan can tell you whether there is something there to be worried about.
