This is Alan Jones on Trial, a podcast by Guardian Australia, and I'm Nord Haydar, coming to you from Gadigal
What began as a slow crawl through legal arguments in closed court quickly gave way to a relentless pace at the criminal trial of Alan Jones this week.
The prosecution called a succession of witnesses, including friends and former colleagues of Complainant C, a friend of Alan Jones, and a former politician.
Joining me each week is media correspondent Amanda Meade to unpack the evidence at the Downing Centre Courtroom.
Today, the court hears declarations of love and loyalty to Alan Jones.
Amanda, the trial this week has delivered what I think has been some of the the most intense or even hostile uh cross examination of a witness by the prosecution.
Would you agree?
Amanda, as you've mentioned, we've heard from a number of witnesses this week linked to complainant C, including a former politician who was called to give evidence about a meeting that he uh was at where both C and Alan Jones were present.
We can't say much about who this politician is or their connection to the alleged victim because
Of course the media has an obligation to protect the identity of complainants.
So bearing that in mind, what can we say about what the court heard about this meeting between these three men?
So what did this former politician say about his demeanor at that meeting?

Interestingly, Amanda, during the cross examination of this witness of the former politician, Defence Barrister Gabriel Bashir took the opportunity
To ask him about an allegation made by another alleged victim against Jones.
Complainant M, we haven't heard from that complainant in court yet.
So there isn't a huge amount of detail or context that we can provide because it simply hasn't been laid out in court.
But we do expect to be hearing from them in the in the coming weeks.
