I don't actually like it.

I am into healing arts.

But there's something about inhabiting, going to that edge to understand what that is fully to then be able to choose and realize like, oh, right, my choices have impact.

It's not just a punch or a kick that creates violence.

There's, you know, like I'm inside of something and I can practice skill around her.

It's risky.

Taking risks.

So like this idea of opening the body in Capoeira is a thing, or closing the body.

And like we always say, you know, if you really want to have a good game, you have to entice the other, offer opportunities, be vulnerable, open up to the possibility that you will get taken down.

That's how then it gets really good.

It's just so much better.

Well, first I have to say as a woman, the conversation about aging as a perimenopausal woman, the conversation about aging is heavy.

I live in this culture and this cultural reality tells me that aging is something to avoid, something to hide, something to fear.

Oh, yeah.

And you're super polite.

Don't even talk about it.

Yeah, exactly.

You're not even allowed to talk about it.

So this is the ethos that I'm in.

And I actually feel very strongly about the need for this to change.
