And it felt to me, I suppose the thing that is so interesting about that manner of death is that that is a political assassination, but it's not a bullet to the head political assassination because a bullet to the head political assassination creates a martyr.
So the way that Pasolini was killed is a reputational murder as well.
It's a way of making him seem
basically like he was a dirty queer.
He got what was coming to him, which I think is what a lot of people thought.
And interestingly, like a lot of people who we would think of as allies, like John Waters, like Derek Jarman, also thought he was like, they were like, of course that is a classic death.
Lots of people they knew would be murdered like that.

So on both sides, like people who loved him and thought he was important and people who hated him thought that that was a plausible narrative.
