Yeah, almost all of it was from Rome.

And it was quite

the experience of writing it.

I mean, even that, like even Shostel.

Like I could walk to Shostel, check out the pyjama fabrics, be like, oh, Danny would love that on Nicholas.

So that sort of feeling of being able to go out and snatch things from the streets and put them into the book was really exciting as well.

Because I wanted it, I didn't want it to feel like a historical novel that was really sort of fetishistic of the past.

I wanted it to feel like they were real living people in their present moment of like, we are living right now, but it happens in the 70s.

I think I can.

First of all, I wrote this book called Crudo nine years ago, and I said at the time it was going to be a quartet written every 10 years.

So the next thing I'm doing is the next book in the Crudo sequence, which will be written over 2027.

And I'm feeling very excited about going back into that project because it was always a kind of...

how to find a form for a world where the personal and the political are smashing into each other in these sort of deforming and strange ways.

And the world has got so vastly more strange in the decade that's passed.

So it feels interesting to revisit that.

And then the other thing, the sort of big book that I'm working on, which I feel really excited about, is in a way a prequel to this.
