But I think that's a consequence of feeling like...
A film is always in present tense.
Even in a flashback, a film is happening in front of your eyes.
So I knew I wanted it to be in these very compressed scenes.
It's like shot, shot, shot.
You're here, you're there.
I wanted to be able to move between long shot and close up.
I wanted to be able to have these sort of scenes of intimacy.
I wanted it to always have this very visual quality, but to feel really condensed and boiled down.
And then I wrote it in nine weeks.
Wow.
Basically from beginning to end.
And it really didn't change very much in the edit.
It really, I'm looking at Simon to attest, Simon was the editor.
And it kind of came out in one piece.
And again, like, that is not how I write.
I write really slowly and laboriously.
But there was something odd about this book.
Yeah.
so it's and i'd done a lot of plotting like i'd really worked out the beats because there was a real time frame for it i knew when they were shooting i knew when personally died like so i had a whole sort of calendar but in terms of the actual writing it was very fluid
