And the woman was like, I think it looks, it's not.

It clearly was like a huge blunt.

It was like a Bob Marley joint.

I felt like such an alien and I didn't feel, oh God, I mean, I had my best friends.

I always, always formed really strong friendships with girls and they were my ride or die crew.

And that's why when I made Booksmart, it was all about that, that your first deep love is the platonic love with your best girlfriend because they're your best friend.

because it's the first person who understands you and you feel that maybe they understand you more than your parents, more than anybody.

So I had individuals who I felt understood me, but as a whole, the feeling of being misunderstood has been like a consistent thing in my life.

And I think that

When I was younger, it made me mad and I like bucked against it in every way.

And I think as you get older, you're a little bit more forgiving of it.

I think the wisdom you gain is really that you know nothing, right?

I'm much more kind of open and humble and empathetic with age every year.
