And the other thing they use these processes for is to keep play going.
Now, does that exclude the punter who's paid to go and see the match or was watching it on television from understanding exactly what's going on?
If it went to the referee, perhaps for...
two or three replays, and if he could make his mind up in that period of time, then he should make the decision.
Other than that, it should go to the TMO.
I don't like that the TMO is the primary person in this.
He's the least experienced of the four officials, but maybe he's more experienced than the assistant referee number two.
But the assistant's incorrectly titled because they don't assist.
I mean, there was a Toulon player absolutely taken out off the ball right in front of an assistant referee in the Aviva the other day, and the assistant referee just looks at him.
Is he actually waiting for the TMO to come in and tell him that that's foul play?
Why can't he make his decision himself?
I mean, the three people on the pitch are supposed to be the primary decision makers, and yet I think it's probably human nature that if you can pass it on to somebody else...
then do so.
I mean, a while ago, I joked with one of the guys from World Rugby.
I said, you know, you should be in another booth and you should have all these feet, a split screen.
And if the TMO can't make up his mind up, he goes to you.
And he said, well, that might be something we could look at.
And I said, I'm absolutely only joking because if somebody can pass the buck, he'll pass the buck.
