What happens is is you put your money in today, and when you take your money out, you're taxed at the moment on at 38% of the profit.
Okay.
It's when you
You take your money out, or you hit eight years, whichever comes first.
And the problem with the eight years is people just the tax gets deducted at source in those ones.
You're not responsible for the taxes.
They pay the taxes on your behalf.
The product provider does.
But the problem with that is you're getting taxed on what's called an unrealizable gain.
The tax has been taken out of something that you haven't put in your pocket.
And people just feel that's very unfair.
And it is a bit of a detractor for people who want to invest.

My podcast Understanding Money, I had to Tonish the Minister for Finance in on the third episode of it recently, and I asked him about deem disposal.
And I asked him you we were talking about the investment scheme, and I said, Look, you've got this investment scheme coming up, but why don't you just fix deem disposal?
And his answer was quite clear why can't I do both?
Is basically his answer.
Now I'm putting words in his mouth, but I think he has a very strong intention of tackling deem disposal.
Hinka's words were something in the l along the line of the rationale for deem disposal no longer exists, or something to that effect.
