I was in a totally wrong hotel, which I was kindly pointed out by the receptionist.

But yeah, look, there is obviously a more serious issue with sat-nav and abdicating responsibility and abdicating that part of our brain where we used to navigate around ourselves.

And that can be an issue.

Yeah, they are.

They're saying that in the UK, about 60% of fatalities occur on rural roads.

Now, that's nothing compared to ours, really.

I mean, ours is more like 73%, according to the latest RSA figures I could find.

So Ireland ranks third in Europe for fatalities on rural roads behind Finland and Sweden.

So we are up at the top of a chart we don't want to be at.

Yeah, absolutely.

And, you know, when you consider when we're on motorways, motorways are the safest places to be and dual carriageways are safer.

They're well lit, they're well spaced, they've crash barriers, there's no sharp turns.

And then when we go onto a rural road, in a lot of cases, we don't know what we're...

facing when we come around the corner.

It can be tractors, dogs, pedestrians, they're not lit.

I know the speed limits have been adjusted down, which was correct, but there are some roads which still even 60 kilometres per hour might be a bit of a stretch.

So yeah, there is still an issue.

And look, rural roads in Ireland are still the ones that are claiming the most lives, unfortunately.

No, it's not looking at the road suitability.

It's not looking at the skill of the driver.
