So when it comes out of the factory, that battery is 100%.
If you completely fast charge it all the time, lots and lots and lots of the rotations of that, the capacity of that battery will reduce over time.
It will reduce faster if you're fast charging it, especially to 100% all the time.
Yeah, the best advice for people is to charge to 80% both from an etiquette point of view because you're not going to have people waiting for ages behind you plus also for the longevity of the battery.
For that battery to last longer and longer over years and to get the full capacity of it, it's best to charge to 80% and also best to charge at home where you can because that AC charging is slower, less heat, better for the battery.
It's still advised to go to 80% most of the time.
Now, obviously, if you do need to go up to 100, if you have a long journey ahead of you, it's better to do it at home on that slower AC charging, less heat, as we mentioned, than if you're doing it on a DC.
The advice is to try and stick to 80 most of the time for your day-to-day journeys.
If you do need to go on that longer journey, then go to 100%.
Over time, that cumulative effect will end up being better for your battery.
Yeah, that's an issue for people who can't charge because they have on street parking or they're in an apartment block.
So they're dependent on the public charging.
I would still say to people, be cautious of buying an EV if you don't have...
access to a home charger because you're negating a lot of the cost savings and public charging is expensive still.
Now, the Minister of Transport, Dara Brown, has said that he is going to look at the costs in terms of fast charging because it has crept up and up.
So we might see something towards the end of the year on that.
And he also said that he's going to look at on-street charging as well because there has been issues of people putting cables across streetways and we should see a solution for that before the end.
It's happened to me actually very recently.
I ended up at a hotel foyer and I was almost going full Basil Fawlty about why my room wasn't ready and I'd gone to the entirely wrong hotel.
So I can blame Google Maps for that one.
