And they pull in all of the data from all of those institutions and put it all in one place.
And so they pull in every single transaction, do their best to categorize it for you.
And nothing's 100% accurate in terms of categorizing, but they've been the most accurate that I've seen ever.
in terms of categorizing your expenses so that you can actively and regularly see where the money is going.
It's difficult to keep on track if you don't have anything tracking it, right?
And so one of the things that I recommend is to look at your expenses at least once a month, if not once a week, but find a time regularly where you can just take a look at where the money has gone.
Figure out what your income-driven repayment plan amount is and get on the lowest paying plan.
And how do you do that?
Income-driven repayment plan is a complicated calculation that the good news is you don't have to do.
You just have to go to studentaid.gov.
If you've never logged in there before, create your login.
Go on and apply for income-driven repayment through the government website.
And so fitting in your student loans, especially right out of college, is a matter of figuring out what that amount is based on your income.
And adding that to your bills and saying, OK, this is the amount that I am going to owe on a regular basis.
The other thing, too, that's really wonderful about federal student loans is the flexibility to put it on forbearance.
So there's two kinds of ways to put a pause on your student loan payments.
The first one is called deferment.
There's no limit on how long you can defer as long as you meet the criteria.
The main criteria is going back to school at least part time for at least 20 hours a week.
So then you can start deferring your loan payments.
