I think of the Rio Grande Valley just as a testing ground.
Remember that Trump won 14 out of the 18 counties that are within 20 miles of the southern border.
Which is huge.
I mean, he was able to really flip some of these really, really strong historic democratic strongholds.
I spent so much time there four years ago during the midterms.
And so that rightward shift that Chuck Rocha is talking about, I saw it very vividly.
And someone like Mayra Flores, this very MAGA member in the Rio Grande Valley, and someone like her was able to win.
That was historic.
However, I'll tell you, a conversation that I had just yesterday with a pastor, Pastor Gonzalez, who's in the Rio Grande Valley in Edinburgh.
She told me something really interesting, which is,
She's one of the first people that has named what's happening a crisis.
We talked about a border crisis all the time.
