But what it says to the kids is we care.
We care that everyone gets something to eat at lunchtime and that you learn.
And, you know, to me, it's an absolute lay down in his ear that this is exactly what we need to do.
And if you've got an opportunity out there, shift is to go to your local politicians and start pushing this.
Let's do this.
Let's get a universal lunch program done.
And then every kid gets the same chance.
And, you know, it is a form of racism because our lower socioeconomic groupings are minorities, the MΔori, the Pasifika, you know, and the other ones who really struggle with this and get caught out with this.
I just think on TV3, I remember a few years back now, we did a thing where we went into a couple of classrooms, one in a...
sort of wealthy classroom, primary school kids and one in a not wealthy classroom.
We didn't ask any names or anything.
They just said, you know, take your lunches out and put them on your desk and we'll come in and film.
I think in the not so wealthy class there was like maybe three lunches and it was like a bag of potato chips or something like that.
And of course, the wealthy kids were all good.
we've got to stop thinking this way you know and and you're right it's you know we've got to stop you know we are meant to be providing everyone with the same opportunity and and don't even get me started with education but you can't learn if you if if your brain is is fogged because you haven't you haven't eaten and and and i want to see every kid given that what's there yeah
And these wealthy kids eat.
